SHARK ATTACK

This quintet combines both young & seasoned players, featuring music ranging from soul to funk & including jazz & blues. Their modern polished repertoire includes arrangements of old standards. Unique vocals, duelling guitars, & a fantastic rhythm section, it’s no wonder they are making jaws drop in the local music scene.

Guitarist Elmer O’Shea was a member of ‘Little Acre’ during the 70’s & played regularly at Birminghams Town Hall. He played alongside Fleetwood Mac & Phil Collins at the height of their fame. Rumour has it he was head-hunted by Black Sabbath.

Guitarist Phil Basterfield formed original band ‘edwin avenue’ in 1995 with Vocalist Sally Haines. As well as songwriting they are both involved in writing music for film & media, & music production.

Drummer Bev Smith has rubbed shoulders with well known figures including Robert Plant & Paul Young. He began playing drums in 1972 & received two years tuition from Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham. In 1983 he joined the Honeydrippers with Robert Plant & gigged with the Zeppelin frontman for the next 3 years. Towards the end of the 80’s he joined Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack & also performed live with Eric Clapton & Jimmy Page. Between the 1990’s & recent years he has been a studio session drummer & involved in several television & radio projects, as well as touring Europe with Chicken Shack & Joe Cocker.

Bassist Bill Gilbert was a member of ‘Second City Sound’ & released a number of albums & singles during the 1960’s. Another claim to fame is he won Opportunity Knocks 4 times.
